Fine Art Saturday X Copro Gallery X Corey Helford Gallery Ten Year Anniversary

Long title! Long day! Great day though!

Laura and I went out to attend a few Galleries in the Los Angeles area, one because we had to make sure and see before it comes down, one as it was intriguing, and one as excitement had boiled for weeks in anticipation. Corey Helford Gallery's ten year anniversary went up this evening! 115 Artist's contributed to this show, and the result is unbelievable. The talent contained in this show is so immense I am going to have to go back after I've somewhat processed it. The show runs until September 24th at their Downtown 12,000 Sq Foot location. Artists include names like Ron English, D*Face, Marion Peck,  Gary Baseman, Ray Caesar, Camille Rose Garcia, Mary Jane Ansell, Hikari Shimoda, Natalia Fabia, Ewa Prończuk-Kuziak, Ian Francis, Haroshi, and so many more! First 500 to receive a free print!

The prints we received, not bad!!

I'll get back to more Corey Helford in a moent as we made sure to make it to the Copro Nason Gallery again at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. Two shows were up, Clive Barker's Wunderkammer: a collection of paintings by Famed, well, CLIVE BARKER!! These haunting and chilling paintings really show an affinity for the strange and unusual. There's a certain sense of mystery that comes encapsulated in each paintings allure that draws you in. Winderkammer ,or Cabinet of Curiosities, a fitting title as its like walking into the best oddities store, and you don't want to leave.

Also at Copro, "From The Depths" a Tribute to H.P. Lovecraft. Win win, getting to see the Clive Barker show with a Lovecraft show all together!! The paintings contained were beautifully rendered by several talented artists.

So much Elder God-y goodness contained by so many talented artists. And on the way out we found out we missed a solo exhibit by a man named Jim McKenzie. ( http://jimmckenzie.net ) who makes some amazing sculptures, paintings, and directs some rad stuff. I was only able to take Poor photos through the case, but follow this guy, watch his videos, and enjoy his joy and whimsy!

From a closing to an opening, we made our way to the Corey Helford Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles. I've written before about this new 12,000 square foot space and it's just so beautiful you must marvel in it. On top of that, the show was beautifully curated, well organized, and all around thoroughly enjoyable. I will only go over a handful here as there are 115 artists and some had multiples. The show opens up to an installation revolving around six D-Face pieces. He is absolutely one of my favorite graphic/graffiti artists. His work is Poppy, Comic Book-y, and reminiscent of a darker Lichtenstein.

Another artist I'd like to feature is Mary Jane Ansell's "The Treaty" . I had been teased this in their newsletter and have been excited to see it in person. It did not disappoint.

The lighting, composition, detail, and realism is baffling. There's just so much talent contained in this image.

Next Mikeal Tikacs,  (http://mikaeltakacs.works) each image he paints is like a ripple on water. His Instagram is really great As it shows a part of his process which is fascinating to see.

Then Logan Hicks (http://workhorsevisuals.com), I've not seen this work before, but what is achieved in spray paint. Just mind blowing.

These are just a couple of the absolutely stunning images, but if you're in La it is a must see, image gallery will be available on their website as well.

Hope you guys enjoy these images, and get to view in person if you can. I love sharing art with you guys, and aim to make it more approachable in the future for some of you.

Hope you all have an excellent week!
