Iron Maiden X Acme Archives X Bottleneck Gallery

Hey Guys,

If you've been following me for a bit I wrote about Acme Archives and Iron Maiden teaming up for some rad prints this past summer. With the tour kicking off into full swing, and the release of the interactive game from Nodding Frog and Roadhouse interactive, there will be a show coming tomorrow! Iron Maiden played Madison Square Garden this week, so why not run an awesome show alongside this reign of badassery.

"Designed by a group of leading artists, Arik Roper, Dan Mumford, Dave Nestler, Godmachine, Megan Mushi, Santi Casas, and Zombie Yeti. All artwork in exhibition is inspired by the music of iconic heavy metal band - Iron Maiden. The art show runs from April 1st to April 8th, which coincides with the band playing at Madison Square Garden.

There will be a new Iron Maiden limited edition screen print, “Dance of Death,” by Megan Mushi that will premiere on opening night." - (Bottleneck Gallery Facebook Event)

I have to say the "Dance of Death" Image by Megan Mushi is quite Magnificent, see tease below. Megan Mushi (click name to link behance) is an artist/illustrator from Indonesia. Most notably making designs for T-shirts, Cover Artwork, and many others for metal bands and clothing bands. Truly great and talented artist if you want to work with dark and detailed illustrations. This Album released in 2003 was a little different take as they had hired a new artist by the name of David Patchett who says he only gave them Eddie and the Monks. It's said that it was then given to someone from IronMaiden.com to give more fluff as it was "too empty". Since he added the characters that were given to him, he was rather unenthused and finished begrudgingly. This was created while the world was still reeling from the "Dancing Baby" Video craze. By no means am I saying this was influenced by, but everyone was doing computer generated three dimensional work at the time with strange polygonal work. Upon submittal of this concept it would seem they ran with the art that was provided even though it was incomplete. It's alleged that David Patchett asked to not be credited with the work. *

All this to say after all this time, there was a need of a redemption. Iron Maiden and Megan worked together on this rad image that is full of Death and add Zombie Party Goers. The exhibit's opening reception is on April 1st at the Brooklyn Gallery from 7-10P.M. Eastern. 60 Broadway Brooklyn, NY 11211. Go by and say hi for me!
